WHERE I’VE GONE WRONG

FATHER, PLEASE FORGIVE ME

FOR PRAYING EVERY DAY

ASKING EVERY CHANCE I GET

FOR THE SAME THINGS

FOR YOU HEARD ME THE FIRST TIME

THE SECOND TIME

AND THE THIRD

AND IF I TRUSTED AND

BELIEVED IN YOU

I’D KNOW YOU KEEP YOUR WORD

AMEN

WHERE I’VE REALLY GONE WRONG IN PRAYING/ASKING FOR A HUSBAND

Like me, I’m sure a lot of single people, after a while, begin to pray and ask God to “Please send me somebody,” right? Not only do we say this prayer one time, but all the time. It’s almost like a ritual. Every chance you get, every lonely moment you have, you’re asking God to “please send me somebody.” Now the funny thing is that God has blessed and given you everything else you’ve asked and believed for, right? He fixed your finances, your career, and your out-of-order kids. The only thing that God hasn’t done yet is sent you “somebody.”

If you think about when you prayed about your other desires, as I did, you prayed about it once, maybe twice, and then not think about it anymore. You didn’t think about it anymore, and before you knew it, God fixed it before you could even think to pray about it again. However, when it comes to the father sending you “somebody,” we keep asking over and over again! We pray this same prayer and then have the nerve to tell God how much we “trust” and “believe” in him. That doesn’t add up. Matthew 6:7 says, “When you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking.”

From my understanding, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing and maybe what you’ve been doing too. God brought this to my attention. I don’t trust and believe that if I’m steadily asking him for the same things. The father broke it down even further and gave me an example. Here’s the example: I have a daughter. You know how kids can be. Say we go to the store, and my daughter asks for something. So I want to see my daughter happy; she’s been a good girl. I think she deserves what she’s asked for. I go ahead and I put it in the basket. Now my daughter saw me put her request in the basket and even saw me pay for it. However, the entire ride home and even after we get home, she keeps asking for the same item that she saw me put in the basket and buy.

Now I’ve told myself ok, she can have it after dinner. Let’s say what she asked for was some ice cream. Normally, you allow your kids to have something “sweet” after they’ve eaten their dinner, which is what they need. They got all their nutrition, and now dessert is their reward. How annoying is it for the child to keep asking for that dessert, like you’re never going to give it to them? I don’t know about you, but the steady asking does nothing but make me NOT want to give it to them. After God revealed this to me, I immediately asked the Lord to forgive me for being so annoying! The understanding and the error in my prayers were so simple and made so clear to me. I had to share. So, whether you’re praying for a mate or anything, make sure your actions line up with you saying how much you trust and believe. Keep in mind the example that God shared with me. I hope this helps!
